The Apology that Drooped Like a Tree
Only after the island
Everything untangled and free
To be seen
I stretched nets
I could have been like
Sorry
That would have been like
When a coconut almost falls
Really I said
Get in my mouth
Because I felt sorry
Like a ray of light
Zaps through the water
Into the reef
Not to aggrandize my pity
But that light looks like
The finger of God
Touching the coral and the fish
Go neon bright
The eye the net
The trees were basically pregnant
You in the mouth
God in the mind
Fruit fell through the night
Then later untangled and empty
Or sorry or free
The whole drowned sky
Lit up and doubted me
