One Witness

I know when I am speaking of epistemology

but not when I am not. And there is all that time.

The time before the interval,

and the time after the interval.

We have been locked in an airtight canister

and shot into space. Space begins

to organize itself around the interval:

it has gravity. Not enough gravity, perhaps,

to deflect a planet from its course. Not enough

canister, perhaps, to hold that much

interval, not enough time, were it whole,

complete, in its entirety, an interval

rather than this: it packs down.

And you don’t know in time.
