Marcus Myers

Originally from Hot Springs, Arkansas, I earned a BA in English from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where I lived for seven years, and where I won the Philip Christopher McKean Award for Poetry. Afterward, I moved to Arkadelphia, back to Hot Springs, and briefly to Little Rock, where I began teaching in the public schools. Teaching led me to Kansas City, where I landed a job teaching gifted and talented 6th, 7th and 8th graders.

My wife and I raise a fiesty toddler named Audrey in South Hyde Park, a neighborhood just east of Westport.

Now I'm at the half-way point toward earning an MFA from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. The recipient of the 2010 Jo Anna Dale Award and a 2011 Durwood Fellowship, my writing has appeared in or is forthcoming from H_NGM_N, Main Street Rag, Mid-American Review, The National Poetry Review, New Pages, Plain Spoke, Pleiades, Tar River Poetry and elsewhere.
