I am not the kind of woman
you can throw words at like
knives and then expect to hold
your hand while you figure out
that you should maybe take
responsibility for your words.

I am not your mother, or your
lover, I will not forgive you your
mistreatment of me simply because
you are “one of the good ones.”
Prove it. On your own accord, take
responsibility for your words.

I am not the little girl who once let
men sharpen their claws against
her skin. You are no match, I assure
you, for the indifference I now carry
for men who do not have the nerve
to take responsibility for their words.
