Blazing

What I
discovered
was the pit
in my
stomach
started
as a seed
the sadness one
tear spreading
over the delicate
pink lining
my middle
growing
down into
soft and
sprouting
upward
one
tiny
green
stalk
a leaf or
two popping
out every minute
stretching
upward until
the whole thing
had vine
climbed
up my
throat and
unhinged
my jaw
I do that now
and forced
itself out
into the weak
sunlight an
undeniable shade
of shocking
bright red
that nobody
ever knew
I was
inside
