The Prey Of The Owl
Every owl I’ve ever seen
is still looking at me.
Every totem
pole, fake.
Not real. Not made
by real Native Americans
with stone knives and axe heads
of stone stone
chipped to shape with other stones.
I don’t know how owls do it,
with their eyes. They must be
thinking of rabbit
when they look at me,
and thus be real.
