Even the best of us

can slide into nothing,

in a one-way letter, text, poem, etc.


won’t hear

this wrinkled soliloquy.  I am the thought

you just spirited away

by blinking – and yet, there really is no need

for my existence, no redemption

in the rabbit-hole

any more

than walking through mud, and perhaps

that’s what’s so painful.  There was something real here,

I swear

that left me caked in its dew!  But true loneliness

poisons the media, because it cannot be exploited, only

mistaken.  Even words

dim the light

by which the phrase, I never got to say goodbye

and that I was sorry,
