Parable of the Lesser of Two Evils

Spent my life

thinkin’ a winnin’,

trying to be free, but

‘long the way

everything told me

to be anything

but me.  In school

they said

my grammar was incorrect.

Doctors

tol’ me I was fat.  So

I got a job

standin’ – employer said

I was lucky for that – and I

stayed

for 50 years.  ‘Til one day

I punch my boss

in the face,

come home,

eat a bag of chips,

sit down, and write

this poem.
