The Revolution

Birds fly high

in the sky – they catch

my son’s eyes.  Horses traipsed

these unpaved lands, backroads

winded the country.

All our trees

of childhood

are still here

if we look again.  Revolution

is only necessary

in the face of radical indifference –

as opposed

to doing

nothing.  And we realize, profoundly,

this complacency

of the many

is part of the grand design

of a broken system – absolutely vital

to its success

at sustaining brokenness, like a stick

placed in a wheel

to profit off a line.  It is not revolution

we want,

but peace.
