There is a Place Here

We hid our weed

in the shed here,

 

brought our baby home

from the hospital here,

 

we became a family here –

everybody knows

 

when you put              pen

to page

 

and try             to actualize

your mind 

 

                                             you risk

losing it all –

 

that’s the place

               in between here and there,

 

in between the muse and the rake,

the gaslight

 

                                             the music

 

and the needle

 

                                             and the form

 

telephone wires

hung from the houses

 

like paper cups, or the price

of dreams – in a world

 

going mad, there is a place

to begin, here.  On the porches,

 

in the solvents, under the nameless trees,

outside the machinery –
