not-so-secret (1 & 2)
not-so-secret 1
the open’s
out,
the assumed
proved.
the obvious
glorious
but still we’re
unmoved.
like a flower,
we ignore it
until needed
–then we
adore it.
praise the plain
because what
it does
is let us
be as
we choose,
without obliging
another’s
mood.
so don’t dismiss
the unconcealed:
though lacking
mystique, it’s
no less real.
not-so-secret 2
even the transparent’s
debated
while wildly
underrated:
we seem
to prefer
not to
concur
because then
tempers
might be
sated:
we forever seem
to have a drive
to tamper with
taste and appetite
fearing and lusting
for the unknown:
wanting safety
while having minds blown.
the obscure
turns us on
(so long as there’s
nominal harm)
(so long as risks
remain virtual)
our desires are
typically mercurial.
