Where is Aims, Oregon?

(for Nate)

it’s beside the culvert

where the mossy gnome lives

where the watershed daughters

hunt for earthworms under

the splitting block

where the six-toed cat

stalks trout fry and mother

salmonberry wends the path

from the shade of Penny Pond

to the creek     it’s along the bank

where the Indian plum grows

where water striders

polish the surface of puddles

where the ground

is thinking     where the fog drip

makes the Doug fir

want to turn quartz

where father mushroom builds

a chicken coop on the side

of the house and Fancy

the lonely peahen

looks for her reflection

in a scrapped storm window
