Love Story

Were the weights heavy on you
heavy as mine?
You thought they were, saying
press my heartache into you, saying
love like mine can’t hurt you.
Misfits cross the street
fitting like thin metal boots
against a thicker wind.
Putting on gloves I saved for you,
walk back into breathing fields
until daybreak cracks itself from the ice.
Lead me to your blue truck.
Drive me away.

Beautiful. Lovely touch in terms of illocution and syntax, felt placement of words.
