single minded with steady breaths
I move with purpose
unfastening my belt
sliding my zipper
it’s snowing in New Mexico
and I’m shitting under a juniper
the shelter seeking
dark-eyed junco perched
on the bottom branch
tilts his head
questioning my shivering
snow speckled ass
deeply inhaling slowly exhaling
watching the fog
rise over my head
at least I can see
I’m still breathing
